Counselling

youth counselling friendships growing up trauma ADHD neurodiverse ASD depression anxiety conflict

Older children, adolescents a)nd teenagers, sometimes respond well to direct one on one counselling.  This depends on their presenting issues.  Issues that may respond to direct one on one counseling include things like developmental adjustments (growing up), assistance with friendships and peer relationships (social skills, conflict and making friends),  emotional regularion, sensory requirements, neurodiversitty, grief, anxiety, trauma and difficlt family dynamics, just to name a few.  Sometimes a blend of play, art or sand tray therapy , together with one on one counselling, works well. Teenagers and adolescents don't feel like they are in "counselling"making them more reeptive to getting help and talking about their concerns.
